For designers and suppliers
Brand and design reference
A working summary of the GEM™ identity for designers, developers and production partners. The governing documents are the GEM™ V3.0 Brand Guidelines (Part A), Digital Design System (Part B) and Production Standards (Part C); where this page and those documents differ, the documents win.
Principles
The brand idea is Every arrival, precisely composed: hospitality is a sequence of moments, and GEM gives each one its proportion, timing, space and detail. Four principles carry it.
Precision over decoration
If an element does not carry meaning, function or proportion, remove it. A deboss instead of a pattern; a hairline instead of a box; a verified fact instead of an adjective.
Restraint is the luxury
Say less, show less, and let what remains be exact. Empty space is a decision.
Geometry is the language
Ring, arc, quarter and spark are the whole vocabulary. If it is not one of them, it is not a GEM device.
Space is part of the identity
Protect the empty field. Clearspace is not left over; it is designed.
Logo
Use the supplied vector kit unchanged: horizontal, stacked, symbol and no-spark symbol, in beige, ink, black and white. Never redraw, trace, stretch, rotate, recolour, outline, add a shadow, crop, mirror or set the wordmark in type.
Clearspace unit u is the G-ring radius: 1u minimum, 2u preferred. Minimum digital size: 120 px lockup, 32 px symbol; below 32 px use the no-spark symbol.
Beige artwork sits only on Ink or Black. Never place the logo on busy photography or Beige on White.
Colour
- Ink #12171DPrimary dark field and default text.
- Beige #BCACA7Signature counterpart to Ink.
- Black #020202Monochrome production and hover states.
- White #FFFFFFPrimary light canvas.
| Pairing | Contrast | Use |
|---|---|---|
| White on Ink | 18.0 : 1 | Approved. Long reading on dark fields. |
| Beige on Ink | 8.2 : 1 | Approved. The signature pairing. |
| Ink on Beige | 8.2 : 1 | Approved. Selected surfaces. |
| Beige on White | 2.2 : 1 | Never for text, boundaries or the logo. Decorative only. |
No gold, gradients, shadows or fifth colour. Meaning is never carried by colour alone.
Typography
Jost 400 · display and headings
A quiet arrival
Inter 400 · body and interface
Inter carries every sentence that must be read, from a booking form to a specification sheet.
One weight, 400, until an accepted 500 font file exists. At most two weights in a composition.
Tracking only on capitals: tagline 0.18em, eyebrow 0.16em, display capitals 0.08–0.12em. Body text and Arabic are never tracked. Keep lines to 45–75 characters.
The tagline is fixed: Hospitality, in perfect proportion, in capitals on one line.
Graphic language
Ring
Completeness. The frame of the G.
Arc
The opening. Welcome and passage.
Quarter
Mass. Weight and anchor.
Spark
The single detail that is noticed. One per composition.
Forms are large, quiet and clear of the words: let the frame crop them, never place them behind text, and never repeat them as a pattern.
Imagery
Ratios: 3:2 for rooms and architecture, 4:5 for products, 16:9 for bands. Light, then subject: editorial and architectural framing, a single light source, warm-neutral tones, controlled contrast and room around the subject. Place the subject on a third and keep text in the quiet area. Avoid generic hotel stock, posed smiling groups, oversaturation, filters, artificial glow and text over busy images. Label every rendered image as a concept.
Voice
Measured, warm, quietly confident and precise. Short sentences. State rather than sell. No exclamation marks and no superlatives without independent evidence.
